La Dolfina humiliates Alegria, 18-6; Pilara Piaget remains unbeaten

La Dolfina takes the field against Alegria with Pablo MacDonough in the lineup. Initially it was thought that Macdonough might not be able to play today due to an inflammation of an intercostal nerve in his back.
An unsteady start saw La Dolfina put two unanswered goals on the scoreboard. Alegria came back with a goal to end the chukker, trailing La Dolfina, 2-1.
Alegria continues to struggle in the second chukker. La Dolfina scores four times. Alegria is held to a pair of goals and fall behind, 6-3.
La Dolfina adds two more goals in the third while holding Alegria scoreless. Juan Martin Nero continues to play brilliantly at Back. The La Dolfina lead is extended to five goals, 8-3.
Alegria had no answers for the La Dolfina attack in the fifth chukker. Three consecutive goals gave La Dolfina a seven goal, 12-5 advantage. The Alegria offense was nonexistent.
Leading by seven goals going into the sixth chukker, La Dolfina appears to put the game on cruise control. Alegria manages a single goal. The La Dolfina lead is cut to six goals, 12-6, with two chukkers left to play. Alegria is unable to wrest control of the game from La Dolfina.
Four more goals by La Dolfina sewed it up in the seventh. With one chukker left in the game, Alegria is down ten goals, 16-6.
An impotent attack and a ruthless defense ended the game. La Dolfina added two more goals, for the fourth chukker in the game, Alegria was unable to score, and La Dolfina (2-0) rode off the field with the twelve goal, 18-6 victory and an appointment with Pilara Piaget (2-0) in the semifinals next Saturday at 4:30pm. Magual (0-2) and Alegria (0-2) will meet in the 1:45pm match.
PILARA PIAGET 14, MAGUAL 11
Earlier in the day, Magual (Alejandro Muzzio, Marcos Di Paola, Facundo Sola and Jaime Huidobro) gave Pilara Piaget an early scare Saturday afternoon in Argentine Open play. Heavily favored Pilara Piaget took an early 3-2 lead after the opening chukker, but watched Magual tie it up at 4-4 in the second period.
Outscoring Pilara Piaget 2-1 in the third, Magual moved in front by a narrow 6-5 margin.
A reinvigorated Pilara Piaget team took the field in the fourth chukker. Pilara Piaget scored four times while holding Magual scoreless and leaving the field at the end of the first half with a 9-6 lead.
Pilara Piaget continued to dominate the game in the second half, outscoring Magual 2-1 and extending its lead to four goals. Pilara Piaget left the field on top of an 11-7 score.
Magual came back with a pair of goals in the sixth while limiting Pilara Piaget to a single score. Pilara Piaget continued to lead, but the margin had been cut back to three goals, 12-9.
Magual continued to press in the seventh but were limited to a single goal. Pilara Piaget picked up two more scores and led 14-10 with one chukker left to play.
Pilara Piaget cruised through the final chukker in a 14-11 win. The win boosts Pilara Piaget’s record to 2-0 while Magual falls to 0-2.
Argentine Open action continues tomorrow, Sunday, November 25 when La Aguada (1-0) meets La Aguada/Las Monjitas (0-1) at 1:45pm, followed by a 4:30pm battle between Ellerstina (1-0) and La Natividad (0-1).
